There's nothing better than a plump and juicy Castlemead chicken for your Sunday roast.

    The birds have a varied diet of locally milled cereals, home grown barley and whatever they can forage whilst roaming the Somerset hills!


    We don't give our birds any additives, hormones or chemicals that will alter the way they will grow. It's all natural, nutrious and locally sourced.


    There's nothing more comforting than a delicious home cooked roast, so here are some of our top tips for cooking the perfect roast chicken:


    -Set your oven to 190c/170c fan/gas 5.

    -Use a shelf in the middle of the oven without anything above it.

    -Season your chicken all over and rub with butter.

    -Once in the oven, leave your chicken undisturbed for approxiately and hour and 20 minutes.

    -Check your chicken is cooked by piercing the thigh with a skewer. If the juices run clear, it is done.

    -Remove the chicken from the roasting pan and leave to rest for 15-20 minutes.
